How to draw the Side Sit, Arm Raised pose

three-quarter view
side view
back view
high-angle view
One long line runs through this figure: from the right palm on the floor, up the straight supporting arm, across the shoulders and out through the raised left arm to its open fingers. The torso tilts toward the right hand, and that tilt lengthens the left side of the body from hip to armpit. The legs sweep to the figure's left, the same side the arm reaches toward, so feet and hand pull the silhouette diagonally upward. The head tips back and turns to follow the hand, completing the reach.
The front and back views show the diagonal at its clearest, and they are the ones to trace first. From the side, taken from the figure's left, the raised arm looks almost vertical and partly overlaps the head. The low angle makes the arm tower over the body, which suits a heroic or joyful framing. From the high angle the arm points toward the camera and foreshortens hard, so the hand looms large next to a small head. Check that the right shoulder rises a little where the arm props it.
More on angles and common mistakes
A common mistake is sending the arm straight overhead, which loses the diagonal and turns the reach into a hand-up question. A head that stays facing forward ignores the hand and flattens the gesture. If the support arm bends or the torso stays vertical, the side stretch disappears and the lifted arm looks pasted on.
This side sitting arm raised pose fits floor choreography, waving to a friend across a field, reaching for an imagined butterfly or a sunbeam, or a cheerful celebration on a picnic blanket that the image does not show. Edit this pose: lower the raised arm to shoulder height and point the hand toward the horizon, and the stretch becomes a gesture showing someone the way.
