The weight is split between the upper back, the head, the arms and one foot. The left knee bends sharply with its sole flat on the floor, and that leg does almost all of the lifting, so the pelvis sits above and behind the planted foot like the top of a ramp. The right leg extends straight from the hip toward the ceiling, foot pointed, making a tall vertical mast. The arms lie along the floor angled out from the sides with the palms down, a wider base than arms tucked tight against the body.

Read the side view from the figure's left to see the planted shin, the sloping torso and the raised leg together; the lifted leg should rise at a right angle to the floor rather than continuing the slope of the thigh. The front view looks past the planted foot toward the head and stacks the raised leg over the pelvis, so its length is hard to judge there. Use the three-quarter or back angles to measure it. The high angle exposes the arm spread and whether the free hip stays level with the working hip.

More on angles and common mistakes

In a single leg bridge pose the pelvis tends to drop on the side of the lifted leg; keep both hip points at the same height or the figure looks lopsided. Another error is aiming the raised leg forward over the face or letting it tilt out to the side. The knee of the standing leg should stay above its foot. Since the mannequin has no mat, shoes or hair, the floor is not shown and contact is suggested only by the shadow.

It works for fitness illustration, hip and core exercise guides, pilates and dance conditioning panels, and balance studies where one side carries the load. In Edit this pose, swap legs by mirroring the figure, or lower the raised leg until it continues the line of the thigh for a lighter variation.
