How to draw the Warrior II pose
Virabhadrasana II looks simple and is quietly demanding to draw, because so much of it is straight lines held in balance. The figure stands with the feet far apart: the left foot points out to the side, the right foot turns slightly in, and the distance between them lets the left thigh drop toward horizontal.
The left knee bends directly over the left ankle, so the shin stands vertical and the knee tracks in the direction of the toes. The right leg stays straight and firm. The hips open to face the same way as the chest instead of squaring to the bent leg, and the torso rises straight up from the pelvis, centred between the feet. The arms reach out level at shoulder height, one over the bent leg and one over the straight leg, forming a line parallel to the floor. The head turns to gaze over the front fingertips.
That gives you two strong directions: a horizontal of arms and front thigh, and a vertical of torso and front shin. The pose fails when either is lost. A front knee that collapses inward or shoots past the ankle wrecks the vertical shin. Arms drooping below shoulder height soften the horizontal. A torso leaning over the bent leg, chasing the front hand, breaks the centred column. The front view shows the full T of the arms and whether the front shin is upright, the side view looks along the bent leg and exposes any inward collapse of the knee, and the high angle shows the footprint of both feet.
Yoga studio illustrations, wellness branding, meditation app artwork and martial characters standing their ground all borrow this shape. In Edit this pose, mirror it to bend the right knee instead, or slide the feet further apart for a deeper stance while keeping the front knee stacked over the ankle.
