How to draw the Standing Side Stretch pose
Picture a single bow drawn from the left hip to the fingertips. With the feet together and grounded, the body bends sideways to the right, so the left side opens and lengthens while the right side folds, ribs and waist crowding together. Both arms reach overhead with the palms pressed flat, and the head sits between the upper arms, following the curve rather than looking up. Because the base is so narrow, the pelvis shifts slightly to the left to keep the mass over the feet, and the head ends up lower than in an upright stance.
The front and back views are the angles this stretch was made for. Both show the C-curve flat to the picture plane, and the back view adds the stretched flank and the compressed side of the spine. In the side view, figure facing left, the curve turns toward or away from you and becomes subtle, so use it mainly to confirm the body is not folding forward. The three-quarter view mixes both and gives a more natural-looking illustration. From the high angle the joined hands foreshorten toward the camera.
Watch out for a forward bend sneaking in, which shows up as a rounded back in profile. If the hips push out to the right, the same side as the bend, the figure looks as if it is falling over. And keep the palms together; arms that drift apart break the clean line that makes the shape readable.
Use it for yoga and warm-up illustrations, gym posters, morning-routine comics, or as a quick gesture study of a pure curve. In the editor, mirror the pose to bend to the left, or separate the hands slightly for a looser, sleepier morning stretch.
