How to draw the Superhero Landing pose
Film and comics usually show this pose from low and slightly in front, and the six views make it clear why. That camera puts the raised head and the planted fist close to the lens and hides the folded torso behind them, so the figure looks compact and dangerous. The side view tells the construction story instead: the right knee, the right fist and the left foot form a broad triangle on the ground, and the torso folds forward over the front thigh inside it. The back view shows the left arm sweeping back and out, and the high angle maps the triangle's footprint, which is the easiest way to check spacing.
The landing is about absorbing force. Weight drops through the fist and the front foot, and the folded body acts like a spring that has just compressed. The left arm trails behind as a counterweight and as a record of the fall, while the neck extends so the head comes up and the eyes look straight ahead. At about 110 cm to the head and 75 cm to the centre of mass, the figure is low but not collapsed.
Spread the knee and fist too far apart and the triangle turns into a sprawl; keep the fist close in front of the kneeling knee, roughly below the shoulder. A straight, upright back reads as kneeling politely rather than slamming into the ground. A lowered head hides the face and throws away the attitude, so lift the chin even while the spine curves forward.
Use it for a comic splash page, a hero crashing through a roof, a film-style poster, a game character spawn or a parody of the trope. There is no cape, costume or cracked pavement in the image; add a crater and flying debris yourself to sell the impact. In Edit this pose, open the right hand flat with the fingers spread for a lighter, more acrobatic landing, or swap sides with mirror so the swept arm points into the page for your layout.
