The knees sit apart and the shins angle slightly outward, giving a broader base than a closed kneel. From there the body climbs as one column: near-vertical thighs, a lower back with a moderate arch, a ribcage lifted by the reach. Both arms are straight and shoulder-width apart, rising almost vertically with open hands and the palms turned toward the viewer. The neck tilts back so the gaze travels up between the hands. It is the tallest silhouette a two-knee kneel can make, with the fingertips standing far above the 108 cm head height.

Build the arms as two long parallel cylinders and check that the gap between them matches the shoulder width all the way up. On a real person the shoulders rise toward the ears when the arms lift; the mannequin's ball joints only hint at this, so add the shrug yourself. In the front view the head nests between the upper arms and the face is partly hidden by the tilt. From the side, the two arms stack into a single line that leans just behind vertical. The high angle drives the hands toward the lens with dramatic foreshortening, while the low angle makes the arms tower. The back view shows the knees forming a V on the floor.

More on angles and common mistakes

Watch for arms drifting into a wide V, which changes the meaning to a cheer; for elbows that soften; for shoulders left at rest height; and for knees pressed together so the base looks narrow. This kneeling arms up pose is useful for celebration, a waking stretch, joy or relief, reaching toward an imagined object above, and dance figures. The hands hold nothing, so any banner, light or falling object must be drawn in.

Edit this pose: turn both palms inward to face each other and the reach becomes a narrower, more focused shape; then check the low view to keep the arms parallel.
