All the weight sits on the left leg, which stays straight and acts as the pole the rest of the figure leans around. The right knee bends and that foot kicks up behind, heel toward the seat, so the stance has a little hop in it even though the figure is grounded. The right hand rises to make the V sign beside the right eye, palm facing out, and the head tilts toward it, closing the gap between cheek and fingers. The left hand rests on the hip with the elbow out, adding a triangle to that side of the silhouette.

Three errors show up again and again. A V sign seen edge-on, with the palm turned sideways, loses its meaning; rotate the wrist so the two fingers and the palm face the viewer. In the front view the kicked foot can disappear behind the standing leg, so let it peek out beside the left calf. And a straight neck makes everything stiff, because the tilt is where the cuteness lives.

Which angle to study depends on the problem. The front view is the one most anime illustrations use, and it shows the hand-to-face relationship best. The three-quarter view is the safest compromise, revealing the bent right leg behind the body and the elbow triangle at the hip. From the side, with the figure facing left, you can measure how high the heel comes up and how the head tips. The back view mainly serves turnarounds, and the high angle adds that classic looking-up-at-the-camera feel.

Idols, mascots, school characters, selfie panels and character sheets all use it. The mannequin has no face, so add the wink or grin yourself; a closed eye on the V side is the usual choice. In the editor, mirror the pose for a left-handed version, or swap the hand on the hip for a second V sign.
