How to draw the All Fours Leg Lift pose

three-quarter view
side view
back view
high-angle view
Taking one knee off the floor turns a stable box into a tripod. Both palms stay flat under the shoulders and the remaining knee sits under its hip, so the support triangle has its single rear point at that knee. The pelvis tips to let the free leg climb far above hip height; from the side the pointed foot ends well above the head. That leg stays straight from hip to toes. The lower back dips and the head lifts to look forward, completing a long arc that runs from the crown along the back and up through the raised leg.
That arc is clearest in the side view from the figure's left, which also shows how nearly the extended leg continues the line of the dipped back. From the front and back the raised leg foreshortens hard into a short vertical column rising above the pelvis, so build it with overlapping ellipses at knee and ankle rather than drawing it at full length. The three-quarter angle is a practical compromise for illustration. The low angle exaggerates the height of the foot, and the high angle shows the lone supporting shin set under one hip.
More on angles and common mistakes
The all fours leg lift pose matches a kneeling leg raise from fitness classes and the extended phase of a yoga tiger pose. Things to watch: an accidental bend in the raised knee, supporting arms that soften at the elbow, and a grounded knee shifted out to the side to fake balance. Without a mat or floor, the base is suggested only by the two hands, one knee and its lowered shin.
Use it for workout guides, dance and gymnastics conditioning, or a character stretching after waking. In Edit this pose, bend the raised knee to ninety degrees with the sole facing the ceiling; the long line becomes a compact kickback while the hands and grounded knee stay where they are.
