How to draw the High Front Kick pose

Profile is the angle to begin with. Seen side-on, the kick draws a long straight line from the supporting heel up through the hip and out along the kicking leg, with the right foot level with the head. The toes are pulled back so the strike lands on the ball of the foot, and that small detail is what martial artists will notice first.

Height comes from the hip, not from bending the back. The pelvis tucks under, the torso leans back only slightly to counter the weight of the leg, and the supporting left leg stays straight with the whole foot flat on the floor. The fists stay up in guard near the face and chest instead of swinging out for balance. The head stays level, eyes on the target, which sits roughly where the right foot is.

Check the knee of the kicking leg: if it bends, the drawing reads as a chamber or a knee strike rather than full extension. The supporting knee should neither lock forward nor buckle; keep it straight and stacked over the foot. Flailing arms are the third giveaway of an untrained kick.

The front view gives that near-profile. In the side view the kick points almost at the camera, so the leg foreshortens dramatically and the sole comes straight at the viewer, a stiff test of foreshortening. The three-quarter view balances drama and clarity, the low angle turns it into a towering action shot, and the back view shows the profile from the other side, with the tucked pelvis and the lean. Use it for karate and taekwondo scenes, fight choreography, sports art and action panels, with the opponent left for you to add off-frame. In the editor, bend the kicking knee and lower it to get the chamber frame before this one, or drop the leg to waist height for a practical mid-section kick.
