How to draw the Battle Cry pose

Read the silhouette before any detail. Almost every shape pushes upward and outward: the wide legs spread toward the ground, the bent arms flare up from the shoulders, the chest swells forward and the head tips back. That expanding star is what the eye reads as power and fury, and it works even as a tiny figure at the back of a crowd.

Start at the floor. The feet are planted well apart with both knees bent, lowering the hips and giving the figure a solid triangular base. From there the back arches, pushing the chest out and pulling the shoulders back, so the ribcage tilts up toward the sky. Both arms are raised and bent, elbows out, fists clenched and held above shoulder height. The head is thrown back with the mouth wide open in a roar; the wooden mannequin has a blank head, so the snarl, the teeth and the strained neck are yours to draw.

Narrow the stance and the power drains away, because the figure loses its grounded base. Fists sagging below the shoulders read as a shrug or defeat instead of a cry. A rounded, closed chest turns the roar into a cough. The front view gives you the full spread of the raised arms and the wide stance; the low angle makes the warrior tower over the viewer and is the strongest choice for posters; the side view shows how far the back arches and how the head drops behind the line of the spine.

Fantasy armies, barbarian heroes, orc warlords, rallying generals and athletes celebrating a goal all share this shape. In Edit this pose, lift one fist higher than the other for a less symmetrical, more spontaneous moment, or widen the stance and drop the hips to make the figure heavier. No weapon is modelled, so add the imagined axe or banner yourself.
