How to draw the Kneeling Look Back pose

three-quarter view
side view
back view
high-angle view
The figure sits very low, with the head near 83 cm and the centre of mass around 42 cm. Both thighs slope back so the pelvis hovers just above the heels. The left arm drops straight to a flat palm on the floor beside the left knee, taking part of the weight, and the torso leans toward it. The right hand rests on the hip with the elbow out, a closed triangle against the support arm's open strut. The neck does the turning: the head twists over the left shoulder and drops slightly, so the chest stays mostly facing front while the face looks away.
Separate the rotation into stages. Hips and chest face roughly forward; the neck and head add the twist on their own. In the three-quarter view, taken from the figure's front-left, the face turns almost toward the camera, which is the clearest framing of the glance. The back view gives the classic over-the-shoulder profile, the nose and chin appearing past the shoulder. The side view shows how low the seat is and how the floor hand sits beside the knee. A high camera stacks head, shoulder and support hand into one compact shape.
More on angles and common mistakes
Many drawings turn the whole torso along with the head, losing the tension of the look. Others bend the support elbow, hide the hip hand behind the body, or lift the pelvis into an upright kneel. This kneeling looking back pose suits reacting to a sound or a call from behind, glancing at an imagined companion, and twist studies through the neck and shoulders. Nothing appears behind the figure; the cause of the glance is yours to stage.
Edit this pose: add more twist to the neck until the chin lines up over the shoulder, then compare the back view to keep the face from rotating past a believable range.
