How to draw the Chin on Both Hands pose

three-quarter view
side view
back view
high-angle view
Both elbows draw together low in front of the chest until they almost touch, and the forearms rise nearly vertical, side by side, making a narrow column under the face. The wrists meet just below the chin, which settles onto the heels of the hands. From that base each hand opens outward: the fingers spread in a soft fan, the index finger reaching highest toward the outer corner of the eye and the little finger curving lowest near the jaw, every finger gently bent at each knuckle. The thumbs lie along the jawline, angled outward. Carrying the elbows forward lifts the shoulders a little, while the head stays level and upright, supported rather than slumped. Below the frame the legs stand loosely with the weight on the right leg.
Think of the two hands as the cup of a flower and the face as the bloom. Draw the heels of the hands first as two small wedges meeting at the chin, then fan the fingers in an arc whose spacing widens from index to little finger, leaving slivers of cheek visible between them. From the front the forearms cover the upper chest and most of the collarbones. In the three-quarter view from the figure's front-left the near hand's fingers shorten in perspective and the far hand peeks out past the nose. The side view from the left shows how far ahead of the ribs the elbows sit and the slight forward lean of the forearms. From behind, only the elbow tips show past the torso, and the high angle reveals the two elbows touching under the face.
More on angles and common mistakes
Common errors are spreading the elbows wide, which opens the forearms into a V and drops the chin; pressing the fingers flat like two boards; and pushing the hands so high that the neck stretches. Keep the weight of the chin on the heels of the hands.
This chin on both hands pose suits kawaii portraits, daydreaming students, café scenes and avatar art. The desk a person might lean on is not shown; the elbows here float in front of the body. In Edit this pose, tilt the head a few degrees toward one side and lower the matching hand a little, so the cheek sinks into one palm for a sleepier, lazier variation.
