How to draw the Bunny Ear Hands pose

three-quarter view
side view
back view
high-angle view
The upper arms lift out to the sides above shoulder level, the elbows bend sharply, and the forearms slant inward so each wrist rests at the top of the head on its own side. From there the wrists bend back and the hands stand upright: all five fingers extended and only slightly apart, palms facing forward but angled about forty degrees outward, like ears turned to listen. The collarbones tilt up and the shoulders rise a little with the arms. The head itself stays level and still, and the torso is upright, so all the character lives in the two raised hands. Both ears should match in height and angle for the gesture to read. The weight is on the right leg, posed in the file but cut off at the hips in the published views.
The silhouette is a diamond: the elbows mark the widest points and the hands add tall points at the top. Those hands lengthen the figure by almost a full head, so leave room above it in the frame. Draw each hand as a flat plank with the fingers stacked along it. From the front you see most of each palm, foreshortened a little by the outward angle. In the three-quarter view the far forearm slips behind the head. The side view, from the figure's left, turns the hands into narrow edges, one nearly behind the other, which makes the front or back views better for showing the gesture. From below the elbows tower and the hands shorten above the face; from above the hands flatten onto the crown and the arms open like wings.
More on angles and common mistakes
Typical errors are clasping the hands behind the head, which reads as a stretch instead of ears; turning the palms backward; curling the fingers so they look like claws; and letting one hand sit higher than the other. The bunny ears hands pose fits Easter illustrations, playful group photos, rabbit mascots with imagined ears and cute sticker sets.
In Edit this pose, bend the fingers of one hand at the middle knuckles while the other hand stays straight. One ear flops over, a small change that adds humour and makes the figure look less stiff.
